Homework 3.4.08

Topic proposal :
1. my blackberry cell phone
2. communication via phone calls, text messages, emails, instant messaging
3. lifeline (in a crisis situation), calendar, alarm, games, note pad, Internet
4. full keyboard, can fit in hand, light weight, garnet colored
5. sleek, doesn't specifically identify with only one gender, compact, multi-functional
6. intended for young, busy, involved, working individuals; students exhibit all the previously mentioned characteristics

This paper will argue that the cell phone was developed to be used as a means of quicker, more direct communication but now acts as an exterior appendage to many people who view it as a vital part of their daily lives.

Eryn, although you have picked a good object for analysis, your list of answers to my guideline questions can hardly count as a topic proposal, which has to be a coherent text. So, consider the following things as you develop and organize your argument. You listed a good deal of the features your phone has. However, you need to place it against other competitors that are either in the same price range or in the same category as far s the features are concerned. What is the role of full keyboard rather than touch screen? What otherwise useful features does it lack? Is it as durable and visually appealing as other phones in that category? Is it considered stylish or cool? What is the link between the features you list and the “young, busy, involved, working individuals” you described?

I like your idea of analyzing a blackberry. Blackberrys contain information which can give you good insight into a person's life.

good job on analyzing the phone. also good pick, a lot of people always overlook the importance of a cell phone and take them for granted.
